Arno Schmidt, a German post-war writer has lived and worked three years in the Inselstraße 42 in Darmstadt. At that time there was an advertising pillar in front of his house; this column got an important role in his story "Tina oder über die Unsterblichkeit".

In honor of his 100-year anniversary the Arno Schmidt Foundation was setting up exhibitions and events throughout Germany. In Darmstadt the typographer Friedrich Forssman has established a cooperation with the Faculty of Design at the University of Darmstadt for the Arno Schmidt Foundation.

I have been part of this group of students who transformed that advertising column 7 times during the anniversary year 2014. We put up posters, set up outside living rooms and libraries, organized readings and dinners and had a lot of fun!

The project won the silver medal of the "DDC Wettbewerb für gute Gestaltung 16" in the category "Zukunft".
